Croatia Records Release Information
Croatia Records, in collaboration with Alta Music, presents the richly equipped double LP “Teško mi je zaboravit t(S)ebe” (It’s Hard for Me to forget You (Myself) by one of the most important representatives of the Yugoslavian pop and jazz music, Drago Diklić.
The album features a total of 28 songs that have marked his long career, including classics such as “Prolazi sve” (Everything Passes), “Izmijenila si se Ana” (You have changed, Ana), “Ja ti dajem sve” (I Give You everything), “Oprosti, volim te” (Sorry, I Love You), “Igra života” (The Game of Life), “Poklonit ću ti jesen svog života” (I’ll Give You the Autumn of My Life), “Zagreb je najljepši grad” (Zagreb Is the most Beautiful City) and many others. The special feature of the release is the song “Još samo večeras” (Just for tonight), which is available as the original recording from 1963.
“I am very pleased, 28 songs are in one place. I sign all the songs, except for two, but those two were the big hits “Teško mi je zaprobit tebe” (It’s Hard for Me to Try You) and “Hladan vjetar poljem piri” (Cold Wind Burns through the Fields). I think those who like this kind of music will be satisfied,” said Drago Diklić.
The edition contains exclusive photographs from Drago Diklić’s personal archive and texts by the music critic Aleksandar Dragaš and the music editor Siniša Škarica. The artistic design of this edition has been done by Darko Kujundžić.
“Namely, considering the songs that he partly composed, and even more sang, and the way he recorded and performed them, Drago Diklić is, in my opinion, and I hope that the rest of the living will not be offended, our greatest living evergreen singer. (…) The eternal melodies that you hear on this double LP testify to Diklić’s fascinating musicality as a singer who, before he “sang”, had become an excellent jazz musician, and it would be nice to “dig up” and re-release recordings from his earlier EP singles from the archives of Jugoton,” wrote Aleksandar Dragaš.
Siniša Škarica adds: “These two vinyls, combined with his voice and handwriting, playing with the title of those arrangements of “starogradski” (Old Town) hits, are actually one hundred percent “Fiko”! Once again, without a doubt, they will remind us most completely of the author’s talent that sometimes remains unjustly neglected in his roles as entrepreneur, singer, and entertainer in his almost seventy-year-long musical career.”
