Croatia Records Release Information

The group Diogen was announced two years ago as a new reinforcement from Split on our rock scene, and it was founded by two members of the legendary Daleka Obala (Distant Coast), drummer Zoran Ukić and guitarist Jadran Vušković. In the new line-up they have been joined by Miro Šoić on bas and singer Ivan “Buža” Bužančić.

Their debut album “Diogen”, is now available on vinyl and is divided as on the CD into songs of staying and song of leaving. Several successful singles, “Splitska dica” (Split Children) featuring Dean Dvornik, “Mannheim, Frankfurt, Karlsruhe”, “Diogen”, “Mala crna haljina” (Little Black Dress), “Anđeo čuvar” (Guardian Angel) and “Vrijeme ljubavi” (The Time of Love) announced the album described in the preface of the booklet by the longtime editor of Jugoton and Croatia Records, Siniša Škarica:

“Listening to the recordings, I have already noted, in random order, and after two rounds I heard existentially: to stay or to travel; the side of love, stay and resistance opposite the foreign anxiety, departure and search. That’s how the record you keep in your hands sounds. It all starts with the Adriatic guitar riff, here as a kind of dedication to the Rolling Stones (hence the Adriatic playing Young), in another story of “Splitska dica” (Split Children).

This fully Ukić piece of solid rock ’n’ roll is actually the zeroth song of the album, some kind of frescoes of Diogen’s color microcosm, which has always been and is a unique Split ambience. “Splitska dica” (Split Children), absolutely as a potential hit, introduces us to life broader than the streets and places of Split (“po cilom svitu igraju se / naša dica” (In the whole world are playing / our children)).”
