Empik Release Information
The rock and blues rock band Breakout was formed in 1968 by Tadeusz Nalepa on the initiative of Franciszek Walicki (alias Jacek Grań). First line-up: Tadeusz Nalepa (guitar, vocals, band leader) Mira Kubasińska: (vocals), Krzysztof Dłutowski: (organ), Józef Hajdasz: (drums), (former members of the band Blackout) and Janusz Zieliński (bass guitar), who was later replaced by Michał Muzolf. Breakout made its debut on 21 February 1968 during the first Musicorama in Warsaw. They then performed at the Television Song Exchange, where they presented, among other songs, their first hit “Gdybyś kochał, hej” (If You Had Loved, hey).
In 1969, they won a special award at the KFPP in Opole and performed with Włodzimierz Nahorny at the “Jazz Jamboree” International Jazz Music Festival in Warsaw. The years 1969-1981 were a period of frequent personnel changes, which were also accompanied by changes in the sound and style of the band. Breakout gave concerts in Poland and abroad, including the USSR, Czechoslovakia, East Germany, West Germany, Norway and many times in the Netherlands. They made archival recordings for the Polish Radio and produced video clips for the Polish Television. The last concerts under the name Breakout took place in September 1981 with the line-up: Tadeusz Nalepa (guitar, vocals), Jan Borysewicz (guitar), Zbigniew Wypych (bass guitar), Marek Surzyn (drums).
Later, they performed occasionally in various line-ups, e.g. on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the band in May 1985, at the Old Rock Meeting in Sopot in 1986, and at the Three Decades of Polish Rock concerts in 1991 in Sopot.
