Warner Music Poland Release Information
The compilation “Republika 82-85” (SACD Hybrid) by Republika from 1993 in the series “Polskie Nagrania Catalogue Selections”. This is the first edition of this album in the SACD (Super Audio Compact Disc) format. The choice of this format is a nod to audiophiles.
This reissue is a musical document of the phenomenon that forever changed the face of Polish rock, capturing the era of “Republika-mania” and the band’s artistic dominance on the radio. This unique collection brings together the most important tracks that did not make it onto the band’s regular full-length albums, yet became the cornerstone of their popularity.
The release features iconic anthems such as “Kombinat” (Industrial Complex), “Sexy Doll”, “Telefony” (Phones) and “Biała flaga” (White Flag) – a track that Grzegorz Ciechowski described as the band’s artistic signpost. It also features groundbreaking compositions from 1985, including the hypnotic, anti-military “Moja krew” (My Blood), which sent shockwaves through the audience at the Jarocin Festival. Lyrics inspired by the works of Orwell and Vonnegut, combined with a new wave, ascetic sound, create a coherent, literary narrative about the individual struggling against the system.
