The only album by this short-lived beat band led by Ryszard Poznakowski and comprising former members of Czerwono-Czarni. Pop songs, a few surprises and a guest appearance by Jerzy Milian on the vibraphone. A new CD edition, expanded to include additional recordings from compilations and radio sessions.

In 1970, Ryszard Poznakowski, who had until recently been the musical director of Trubadurzy (Troubadours), formed a new band. Wiatraki (Windmills) brought together two married couples: Katarzyna Sobczyk and Henryk Fabian, and Jana Tarnowska and Ryszard Poznakowski. Reinforced by drummer Ryszard Gromek, they began an intense climb up the career ladder in the early months of 1970, appearing very frequently on television and radio programmes.

They also set about recording their debut album at lightning speed, which featured twelve compositions by the band’s frontman. These are charming, beat-influenced songs that could easily have featured in Trubadurzy’s repertoire a little earlier. Among them are atmospheric ballads and several hit tracks, led by “Fistaszki” (Peanuts). There is also room for an extensive drum solo and Jerzy Milian’s solo virtuosity on the vibraphone.

“Wiatraki 1” returns on CD in a new, remastered edition, prepared from the original tapes in the Polskie Nagrania archive. The album’s core repertoire is supplemented by tracks from compilations and previously unreleased radio sessions. The booklet features a brief history of the band and photographs.
