GAD Records Release Information

The debut album by a band which, bucking the trends, chose to uphold the noble traditions of progressive rock at the dawn of the 1980s. Poignant melodies, dazzling instrumental displays by Andrzej Puczyński and Władysław Komendarek, and Paweł Birula’s angelic voice. All presented in a refreshed, remastered format. The bonus tracks include singles and radio recordings.

Exodus rose to prominence in the late 1970s as the leading exponent of the “Music of the Young Generation” movement. They presented their own concept of progressive rock, stylistically reminiscent of the genre’s most outstanding representatives – and won the hearts of listeners across Poland with it. Recorded in early spring 1980, the album “The most Beautiful Day” sums up this first, most artistically ambitious period in the band’s career, featuring poignant ballads (“Stary Noe” (Old Noah), “Widok z góry najwyższej” (A View from the Highest Peak)), near-hit tracks (“Ci wybrani” (The Chosen Ones), “Złoty promień słońca”(
A Golden Ray of Sunshine)) and the elaborate suite “Ten najpiękniejszy dzień” (This most Beautiful Day).

“The most Beautiful Day” is being released in a new remastered version prepared by Andrzej Poniatowski. The bonus tracks include recordings from the singles “Ostatni teatrzyk objazdowy” (The Last Travelling Theatre) and “Spróbuj wznieść się wyżej” (Try to Rise Higher), as well as two alternative versions of tracks featured on the album including a previously unreleased version of “Widok z góry najwyższej” (A View from the Highest Peak). The booklet contains an essay about the release and photographs of the band.
