GrundRecords Release Information

The idea and concept for the English-language Omega album “The Dark Side of the Earth” first came up around the time of the recording of their 11th album “XI”. The project matured over the years, but unfortunately remained unfulfilled in the end, despite the fact that its influence is still strongly felt on Omega’s career-closing album, “Testamentum” (Testament), released decades later.

In 1986-1987, English-language versions of six songs were recorded over the existing musical tracks used for the Hungarian-language recordings. However, while two songs from the album “A Föld árnyékos oldalán” (On the Shady Side of the Earth) and four from “Babylon” were recorded, no further tracks followed, so this half-album’s worth of material was later released only as bonus tracks on CD.

To the delight of vinyl enthusiasts, this rarity is now finally available in this format as well, in two different color variants on 45 rpm vinyl. This version features a record with white stripes on a black background.
