GAD Records Release Information

The second album by a band that, in the late 1960s, combined psychedelic ideas straight from US America with folklore straight from the Polish mountains. “W murowanej piwnicy” (In a Brick Cellar) is a documentation of this unusual marriage – available for the first time as a separate CD, enriched with six bonus recordings.

The group went down in the history of Polish rock music as a tireless promoter of native folklore in a rejuvenated setting. No To Co’s second album has been a natural development of the ideas initiated on their debut album, “Nikifor”. On the one hand, there are folk arrangements with a rock feeling (“Wiązanka góralska” (Highlander Medley), “Hej, bystra woda” (Hey, Fast Water)), and on the other, excellent original compositions bordering on Californian psychedelia (“Z soboty na niedzielę” (From Saturday to Sunday), “Lubię patrzeć w twoje oczy” (I Like Looking into Your Eyes)). All songs were recorded in stereo and complemented by sound effects that were innovative at the time.

“W murowanej piwnicy” has appeared for the first time as a separate CD, supplemented with other recordings from the same sessions, released at the time on a single and a four-track EP. The booklet includes a sketch about the band, photos and memorabilia. The reissue is released as part of the partnership between GAD Records and Polskie Nagrania / Warner Music Poland.
