Blues from Prague’s Hanspaulka district available again on LP and CD

When you say Bluesberry, you automatically think of Petr Petar Introvič (1951–2020). Since 1971, a number of musicians have passed through this Prague – or more precisely Hanspaulka – music association, but without Introvič it would not exist and would not have had such momentum. In the beginning, it looked like folk music, which is where the participation, medals and first recordings from the Porta festival came from. However, it turned out that the witty, ironic lyrics to blues standards and their own songs could also be accompanied by electric instruments.

The founding members Introvič (vocals, guitar, harmonica, accordion and other instruments) and Peter Jurkovič (guitar, vocals) were gradually joined by keyboardist Richard Dvořák, bassist Jiří Kredba and drummer Jan Hrdlička, who can be heard together on this debut album from 1987. However, the quality and concert fame of the band was supported by many others, especially guitarist Mário Císař, lyricist Jaroslav Müller, singer Martin Kraus, drummers Zdeněk Šolc and Ivan Dvořák, but also pianist and actor Václav Kopta. The ferment in the Houtyš pub led to many heated discussions and subsequent changes in the line-up, but without losing the essence: a perfectly Czech version of the blues, creating a completely unique branch of this genre, which is also popular in our country.

The original album has been remastered, supplemented with a cover featuring the lyrics, and pressed on 180 gram vinyl. The CD also includes five bonus tracks from the period before its release, which interestingly complement the history of Bluesberry.
