The album “Aktor” (SACD Hybrid) by Dwa plus Jeden in the series “Polskie Nagrania Catalogue Selections”. This is the first edition of this album in the SACD (Super Audio Compact Disc) format. The choice of this format is a nod to audiophiles.

The “Aktor” (Actor) suite, with music by Janusz Kruk and lyrics by Marek Dutkiewicz, is a unique piece in the oeuvre of the band Dwa plus Jeden (2 plus 1). It was released on vinyl in 1977. It was written as a tribute to the tragically deceased, outstanding actor Zbigniew Cybulski. The music, elegiac in tone, passionate and dramatic, is a far cry from the band’s popular hits.

When talking about “Aktor”, it is worth mentioning two outstanding musicians who enriched the recording. The first is pianist Janusz Koman, the second was violinist Adam Pilawa. The album cover is the work of the graphic artist Marek Goebel – it is an enlarged and processed frame from the film “Popiół i diament” (Ashes and Diamonds). The discovery of this unique phonographic item sheds new light on the achievements of the group 2 plus 1.
