Named after one of his greatest solo hits, “Výlet do bájí” (Trip to the Fables), the current three CD “Zlatá kolekce” (Golden Collection) by Aleš Brichta charts the best of what the singer has composed and sung over nearly four decades of his rich output. Nearly four hours of music offers fifty-eight tracks, mostly time-honored hits, but also a few recordings that should not be overheard. For the vast majority of them Aleš has written the lyrics and some of them he has also composed.

On the selection we can find tastings mainly from his first solo albums, which have always been excellent sellers. But his other bands and projects are not forgotten either. It is certainly worth mentioning his tribute to the legendary Jiří Schelinger through the album “Zemětřesení” (Earthquake) or his now cult participation in the musical “Jesus Christ Superstar”, where Brichta performed the role of Pontius Pilatus. Marta Jandová, Blanka Šrůmová, Petr Janda and the tragically deceased Pavla Kapitánová are featured in duets with Aleš. Through this extensive compilation we also remember the football-themed Hattrick project. A few stops cover his other activities with the Aleš Brichta Band, and a chapter itself is of course the singer’s twenty years in the legendary band Arakain, which he co-founded more than forty years ago.

This selection shows Brichta not only as a melodic rocker, but also as a romantic dreamer and an excellent lyricist who can conjure up a compelling story that you can easily identify with. Quite rightly, then, this selection is included in the premium “Zlatá kolekce” (Golden Collection) category, charting the careers of legendary performers of the domestic music scene.
