In 2024, it was 50 years since one of the most famous records of Czechoslovakian culture, “Egon Bondy’s Happy Hearts Cub Banned”, was recorded at the Houska Castle. This was also the reason to revive the recording in concert form, and the PPU Egon Bondy Tour 2024 was created, which, under the leadership of the old bandleader Josef Janíček, embarked on a concert tour, where not only songs from “Egon Bondy” were performed, but actually a cross-section of the entire output of the Plastic People, starting with “Egon Bondy” and ending with “Půlnoční myš” (Midnight Mouse).

Janíček (keyboards, vocals) was accompanied by Jan Brabec (drums, vocals), Vladimír Dědek (trombone), Tomáš Schilla (cello, vocals) and Ivan Bierhanzl (bass guitar), musicians who played directly with Mejla Hlavsa in the Plastic People in one of the “pre-revolutionary” periods. With this line-up, the band has returned to its roots, where the guitar was absent, and has also chosen songs that represent the compositional genius of Mejla Hlavsa in an unprecedented breadth. The musicians’ outstanding performances finally let Hlavsa’s compositions sound as he once imagined them.

Recorded live by Ondřej Ježek at 28 June 2024 in Louny and mastered in the Jámor studio. The DVD of the concert at the Houska Castle was shot with five professional cameras and edited by director Karel Kaliban.
