Croatia Records Release Information

The album “Daleko 2024” (Far away 2024) by the legendary singer-songwriter Jadranka Stojaković contains original recordings of Jadranka’s vocals accompanied by completely new arrangements and orchestrations, which were handled by Mario Igrec.

One of the greatest Yugoslavian singer-songwriters released the album “Daleko” in 2011, which contains ten great songs such as “Sve smo mogli mi” (We Could Do Everything), “Daleko” (Far away), “Što te nema” (Why Are You Missing), and “Šumi voda” (The Water Is Rushing). The album was recorded with the help of the musicians Frank Krajcar, Marko Matošević, the arranger Denis Budim and the producers Mauro Giorgi and Kristian Terzić.

The story of the creation of this album is interesting because Jadranka was living in Japan at that time. Frank Krajcar’s then manager Amir Bahtijarević sent Jadranka the song “Melankonija” (Melancholy) which Jadranka liked, and she sang it with Frank Krajcar. The collaboration resulted in the album “Daleko” (Far away), and Jadranka held three concerts with the aforementioned musicians, in Rijeka, Dubrovnik and Belgrade. Unfortunately, the concert in the Belgrade “Dom Omladina” (Home of Youth) was her last concert, as Jadranka could no longer perform due to her advanced illness.

Music critic Mario Iličić declared the album “Daleko” to be Jadranka Stojaković’s “album of her lifetime” because her musical journey awakens nostalgia and longing for her homeland, colored by her warm and exceptional vocals.

Since her vocals were preserved, Croatia Records accepted the idea of giving the great songs of this legendary singer-songwriter completely new arrangements, and Mario Igrec did a superb job. The brilliant musicians, led by him, along with the cameraman and music producer Mauro Širol, at Croatia Records Studio have created a discographic work of exceptional importance for the first time, which is also contributed by the impressive visuals of Dragan S. Stefanović, the author of Jadranka’s photo on the album cover. The album also includes part of an interview with Jadranka conducted by the famous Bosnian producer and musician Brano Likić.

“Only now do I see how happy and rich I am, how much I have met, how many different cities I have been to, how many different songs I know, how much that diversity has made me happy. I am not saying goodbye to that, it is written in the book “Živjeti muziku” (Living Music),” said Jadranka.

Jadranka Stojaković was born in Sarajevo and began her career in the group Kombo 6. She performed solo for the first time in 1968, and her first successes were recorded in the early seventies thanks to the TV show “Na ti” (On You), hosted by the poet Duško Trifunović. Throughout her four-decade long career, she achieved great success in Yugoslavia, but also around the world.

In 1988, she moved to Japan, where she built a musical career under the name Ranka San. From 2012 until her death in 2016, Jadranka Stojaković lived in Banja Luka. She has received numerous awards and recognitions for her work, and will posthumously receive the “Kantarion” award as another recognition for her unique work.
