Telegraf Release Information

In the years that have passed, I have learned how a song can touch us in countless ways. There are those that are rhythmic, cheerful, that simply capture you with their charm. On the other hand, there are ballads that you listen to with devotion and thoughtfulness, in one song you are touched by a beautiful melody or unusual harmonies, in another the lyrics become a revelation for you and who knows what else, it is really difficult to list them all.

And yet, there are also those songs in which you are touched by a truth with which you can identify.

Sometimes it is difficult to face such truths, after all, we live in a time when no one is interested in other people’s problems and that is precisely why a song can sometimes be our best, and perhaps only, friend.

And at least those who are of a similar age to me, remember the times when music was the most important thing in the world. Something for which you should give up, be persistent, consistent. Something that is passionately loved, and in return, those emotions that are deeply immersed in the ocean of our soul are expected.

Back then, music was a sign of recognition, because the answer to the question “What are you listening to?” would be enough to create an image even of someone you met for the first time.

There have always been people whose name sounds like music itself, because the moment you say it, your thoughts already go that way.

They don’t have to be hitmakers, they don’t have to have astronomical circulations, but they have something even more important: they know how to translate the truth into a song.

Brano Likić certainly belongs to such authors.

When, after being a member of several Sarajevo bands, he formed Rezonansa, his idea was to create a new sound, something different, he didn’t want to stick to what most people were doing at the time.

That’s why the first album “Nemoj meni...” (Don’t Me...) was already quite different from everything that had been released in the Yugoslavian discography up to that point. The A side features an ethno style, but unlike many who have already tried their hand at that field, this is done with moderation and taste, while the B side of the LP is filled with urban themes, and is certainly adorned with an exceptional cover by Dragan S. Stefanović.

After this, Rezonansa released two more studio albums: “Procvjetala ljubičica plava” (The Blue Violet Has Bloomed) (1978) and “Prolaz molim!” (Passage please!) (1978), and in 1981 they recorded an LP called “Profesija muzičar” (Profession Musician), which is certainly the most significant achievement of this group, on which Brano and his sister Branka express their frustrations caused by what was happening to them in their professional musical career, and also in their life.

This album contains several truly exceptional compositions, among them “Mirno idem krivim putem”:

I am calmly walking the wrong path
There is no trace behind me
I am forgetting what is past
I don’t worry about what tomorrow holds

I am calmly walking the wrong path
There is no trace behind me
The night passes, the morning comes
I don’t worry about what the day holds

For how long now I wonder
I will follow the rules
I am calmly walking against myself
And I can't go back

For how long now I wonder
I will follow the rules
I am calmly walking against myself
And I can’t go back

I am calmly walking
The wrong path
I am calmly walking
The wrong path

Interestingly, at the time of its release, this song did not receive the attention it deserved, but later it would be completely different, which Brano Likić himself once told me about:

Mia, Dragan Bjelogrlić’s daughter, asked me if she could use the composition “Mirno idem krivim putem” in her film. Also, a woman from Zagreb called me about it, a girl from Sarajevo wants to use it for her graduation... There are really many people who use this song, there is no place where it is not broadcasted.

It is more than clear here that a good song has no expiration date. While listening to it, it may seem to you that it was written a long time ago, or maybe even yesterday, time does not play a special role here, because such songs carry with them a sign of recognition, through them some souls touch, and often even hug tightly.

It would be difficult to determine which composition marked an author, most often there are more than one, but it is certain that “Mirno idem krivim putem” belongs to the special achievements that came out of the workshop of Brano Likić and Branka Likić-Brborić.

In 2024, the record company Croatia Records released an album by Rezonansa, which is precisely titled as the song I am writing about here, which is certainly a confirmation of its value.

In addition to this, the album contains some other well-known compositions by the group, such as “Jedno veče u hotelu”, “Saraj poljem”, “Eno avion”, “Hajde dušo” and others, but this time in a modern production and somewhat different arrangements.
