Croatia Records Release Information
“Traženja” (Searchings) is the first long-playing album by the singer-songwriter Grgur Višić, released in cooperation with the record companies Spona and Croatia Records. It consists of eight songs that deal with everyday life, whether it’s about love or general confusion. The album begins with the song “Gentleman Luzer” (Gentleman loser), which, although it was the single and the best on the album according to the producer Damir “Šiljo” Trkulja, is the least personal, and tells the story of a fictitious man who suffers a midlife crisis.
It is followed by a tandem of thematically and structurally similar songs, “Atomska bomba svjesnih razmjera” (Atomic Bomb of Conscious Scale) and “Dan kad nisam znao što je što” (The Day I Didn’t Know what Is what). Both are personal and intimate, describing a moment of loss, to which Grgur says: “It is that moment when you are thinking, but you have no idea what and why you are thinking”.
The A side of the album closes with “Na rubu granice normale” (On the Borderline of Normality), chronologically the youngest song. As the name suggests, it is a subconscious manifestation of inner restlessness. Grgur says that the poem was created in an hour and that it represents the most sincere creative impulse: “Sometimes a poem is created and at a given moment it is incomprehensible, as if the author does not know what he wanted to say. That’s what happened with this song. I understood it months later, and maybe it will be years until I will really understand it”.
The B side opens with “Toliko o tome” (So much for that). The fiercest song on the album, the sound of which is due to Zoran Čalić, the legendary former guitarist of Majke. Grgur describes the process of creating this song, which is also the oldest on the album: “Four years ago, I just moved to Zagreb and lived in an apartment in Knežija. My best friend informed me that his mother had tragically passed away. I sat and thought and the verse came to my mind: “How the dead stay with us, how life entangles our necks...””
The album ends with the moody triad “Šesti amandman životne patnje (Ljubav) ” (The Sixth Amendment of Life Suffering (Love)), “Kako mi je samo lijepo biti tu” (How Nice It Is for Me to Be here) and “Gradska utjeha” (City Comfort), which is also the longest song on the album. The album was recorded in the PurpleCat studio, and the production and arrangement was signed by the musician and producer Damir “Šiljo” Trkulja. Designer Paula Grandov is responsible for the artistic design. The lyrics and music of all songs are signed by Grgur.
Grgur Višić was born on 16 November 1999 in Zagreb. He spent his childhood in Fužine, and at the end of elementary school he moved to Pula, where he finished high school and elementary music school. He then returned to Zagreb to study and began a musical career. The album “Traženja” (Searchings) has been his biggest undertaking so far, which crowns three years of work. We had the opportunity to listen to Grgur in numerous Zagreb and Croatian clubs, and the date of the album’s official promotion will be announced soon.
“I remember high school and how I dreamed of making my own music one day. That dream has long since turned into reality and all that remains is to do what I love the best I can. I reach for music in the darkest, but also in the happiest moments. The relationship I have with a song, whether it is my own or someone else’s, is a process of growth for me. In this way, with this album, I give a part of myself to the world in the hope that my song will also find somewhere someone”, Grgur concluded.
