“Zapleši twist” (Dance the Twist) – A new studio album by the group Swingers that invites you to dance

The album with its twelve songs is dedicated to the Yugoslavian pop and rock legends Ivo Robić, Arsen Dedić and Drago Diklić, who started their musical career in the 50s and 60s of the last century, but also to those who left their musical stamp in the following decades.

The late 1950s and early 1960s were marked on the Yugoslavian pop scene by cover versions of world hits such as “Bikini” performed by Trio Tividi, “Sedamnaest ti je godina tek” (You are only Seventeen) performed by Ivo Robić, “Svi trče oko male Sue” (Everybody Runs around Little Sue) by Bijele Strijele (The White Arrows) and “Zapleši twist” (Dance the Twist) by Arsen Dedić.

The new album of Swingers includes the song “Sunny” in which the legendary Drago Diklić is a guest. In the song “Srce laku noć” (Good Night, Heart) they hosted Ivo Robić in a virtual way, and it was written in the year in which we celebrated the 100th birthday of this great singer. The song “Sviraj nam rock” (Play Rock for Us) is a cover of Chuck Berry’s classic “Johnny B. Goode” and is dedicated to the legendary Krunoslav “Kićo” Slabinac, whose musical beginnings were marked by rock music.

The album opens with the Đavoli cover song “Čuvaj me, pazi me”, in which the Swingers hosted Neno Belan, and the song with its infectious rhythm was one of the singles most listened to this year. In addition to Drago Diklić, posthumously Ivo Robić and Nene Belan also the Gelato Sisters hosted in the song “Bikini”. The album also includes cover versions of “Kao ti” (Like You) from Parni Valjak, “Sve gradske bitange” (All City Rascals) from Prljavo Kazalište and “Ona nije ovdje” (She Is not here) from Animatori.

Swingers were founded by Robert Mareković, and they already have several successful studio albums behind them. The new album “Zapleši twist” was produced by Filip Vidović and Robert Mareković.
