Croatia Records Release Information



Seventeen members of the Croatian blues expedition traveled to Memphis in January 2019, where they participated in the 35th edition of the International Blues Challenge. There, in one of the world’s most famous studios, the Ardent Studios, they recorded the song “Keep the Blues Alive” live. The song talks about love and dedication to the blues and is dedicated to one of the most prestigious blues awards, “Keep the Blues Alive”, which was presented to the representatives of the Croatian Blues Forces this year by the Blues Foundation.

The song “Keep the Blues Alive” is the work of Boris Hrepa Hrepić, Antonija Rola Vrgoč and Jey Sieleman, the longtime president of the Blues Foundation, who participated in the recording of the song. The Memphis Expedition are members of The Screaming Wheels, Hrep and Rolo as Sunnysiders, members of the Istrian blues scene, but a special role is played by the students of the Poprock school from Sisak who represented Croatia in the youngest category of the 35th edition of the International Blues Challenge.

In the famous Ardent studio where ZZ Top, Allman Brothers Band, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Led Zeppelin and many others recorded, the video for the song “Keep the Blues Alive” directed by Danilo Caković was shot.

The song was produced by Leo Anđelković, and the recording was done by Mike Wilson. It was published by Croatia Records on the A side of the 7’’ vinyl, while on the B side there is the song “Song of Desire”, also signed by Boris Hrepić.

Our award-winning chocolatier Marinko Biškić in his Nadalina chocolate factory in Solin also produced a chocolate version of the single, so he will also play the chocolate single on the record player.

The American promotion of the song in the vinyl and chocolate edition will take place on January 29, 2020 in Memphis at the Double Three Hotel during the Affiliated Blues Society Leader Roundtable assembly, which gathers around 50 world blues organizations, and the special Croatian Blues Package, a package with both singles and the Croatian tourist flyer will also be presented to the winners of the “Keep the Blues Alive” award at the award ceremony during the next International Blues Challenge.
