Croatia Records Release Information

After presenting himself to the general public with the acclaimed debut album “Terra Incognita”, the jazz guitarist Filip Pavić released his second studio album “Labyrinth Songs”.

The musician, who won the Status award twice, in the categories of Young Hope of Jazz Music and Best Jazz Guitarist, earned strong sympathy from the jazz audience with his first album, as well as from critics, who recognized him as an excellent composer and guitarist. For the purposes of recording the second album, Filip again gathered the best Croatian jazz musicians – Matija Dedić, Marija Bočić, Zvonimir Šestak and Borko Rupena, and seven original compositions were created in the Artesuono studio in Udine / Italy with the help of the producer Stefan Amerio. Although it is more stylistically diverse, and with a wider range of influences than the previous album, “Labyrinth Songs” at the same time retains Pavić’s refined sense of melody and lyricism.

Esteemed music critic Zlatko Gall, who listened to the new material right before the official announcement, could not hide his delight with Filip Pavić’s latest studio work: “If he announced his immense playing and authorial talent with his debut, Filip Pavić confirmed it without question with his fresh second album. And as things stand on the threshold of autumn of this semi-normal year 2022 – here we have the domestic jazz album of the year!”

Filip Pavić studied jazz guitar at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz. During his stay in Graz, he had the opportunity to collaborate with many top musicians and bands, such as Jim Rotondi, Renato Chicco, Michael Abene, Klemens Marktl and others. In 2019, he finished his master’s studies in jazz guitar in Austria, and at the same time he has been receiving more and more demand on the Croatian music scene. In addition to top jazz musicians, he regularly has been collaborating with musicians of other genres, such as Lucija “Luce Ćustić”, Nina Romić or J.R. August.

The concert promotion of the album “Labyrinth Songs” was held on 6 October 2022 at Tvornica kulture, as part of the JazzHR festival.
