Croatia Records Release Information

On the occasion of the National Album Day in Croatia and the celebration of the 73rd birthday of the LP album as a music format, in 2021 the book “73 priče o albumima – žene u glazbi, stihu i interpretaciji” (73 Stories about Albums – Women in Music, Verse and Interpretation) was presented, the fourth continuation of the successful edition, which brings 36 interesting interviews with women who have marked the Croatian and former Yugoslavian music scene. The edition started in 2018, i.e. since the National Album Day was celebrated in Croatia for the first time.

The author of the book is Zlatko “Turki” Turkalj, and together with Želimir Babogredec, the director of Croatia Records, he also designed the double vinyl “Ja sam žena” (I Am a Woman) that accompanies this book with music.

Meri Cerinić, Josipa Lisac, Tereza Kesovija, Zdenka Kovačiček, Gabi Novak, Radojka Šverko, Vera Svoboda, Zorica Kondža, Jasna Zlokić, Betty Jurković, Jadranka Stojaković, Lidija Bajuk, Doris Dragović, Maja Blagdan, Vanna, Severina Vučković, Mia Dimšić, Alka Vuica, Emilija Kokić, Nina Badrić and Lea Dekleva make this double vinyl the soundtrack of “73 priče o albumima – žene u glazbi, stihu i interpretaciji”, but also of the documentary-musical series of the legendary radio show “Music Pub” by Zlatko Turkalj (HR2).

In this series, the author deals with the role of women and the attitude towards them in the music industry, highlighting their importance, attitude, success and power in words, verses and interpretations. On the double vinyl we can hear hits such as “Ja sam žena” (I Am a Woman), “Što je ostalo od ljubavi” (What Is Left of Love), “Sveta ljubav” (Holy Love), “Pokora” (Penance), “Meni je ljubav sve na svijetu bila” (To Me Love Was Everything in the World), “Make up”, “Što te nema” (Why Are You not here), “Puna memorija” (Full Memory), “Bezimeni” (Nameless) and “Pogled ispod obrva” (A Look under the Eyebrows).
