Karel Gott’s new album brings Czech versions of his favourite songs from the world’s musical treasury! The singer has chosen excellent melodic themes, partly previously sung in the Czech Republic, but especially those specially discovered for this occasion, from American pop, rock and roll and soul to country covers.

Gott readily admits his fondness for the Elvis-like silky repertoire “S tebou vždycky přijde máj” (Always on My Mind), “Podezírání” (Suspicious Minds) or “Ďábel tisíc tváří má” ((You’re the) Devil in Disguise), but he has not overlooked other classic pieces from the fifties and sixties like “Modrý samet” (Blue Velvet), “Sochy v dešti” (Crying in the Rain) or “Party” (I'm A Believer).

However, he worked his way through his favourite songs through the end of the nineties: from “Čas” (Ben), “Vincent van Gogh” (Vincent), “S ní” (She) to “Můj ideál” (Endless Love) (a duet with Monika Absolonová) or “Nic nás nezastaví” (Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us now) (a duet with Gabriela Gunčíková) to R. Kelly’s “Já toužil plout” (If I Could Turn back the Hands of Time). The famous covers by famous singers and bands have been given a unifying music and sound production in the ORM studio, the lyrics are from the legacy of Z. Borovec or P. Vrba, but also from E. Krečmar, K. Šíp, M. Skalka or V. Poštulka.

Each of the songs has its own meaning and interpretation for Karel Gott, from the powerful melodies to the original artist: a detailed explanation is provided in the comprehensive booklet, which also contains the complete lyrics. Gott offers songs that have long made listeners happy for him personally – and on this album he has sung them in a way that also makes all his fans happy.
