On his new studio album, Karel Gott turns to his “heart” music from the time when swing orchestras were the king of the stage. In an era of mostly computer music, you get a fair dose of singing and music made in Prague’s Radio Studio A, with lyrics exactly to the singer’s taste, with a superb “Bigband Českého Rozhlasu” (Czech Radio Big Band) led by Vaclav Kozel and guest appearances by dozens of real strings.

Among the songs from the repertoire of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Bobby Vinton or Louis Armstrong, Jiří Suchý’s “Blues pro tebe” (Blues for You) deservedly made its way in, “Dívka v modrém” (The Girl in Blue) by Emanuel Nováček or “Tvůj krok zní” (Your Step Sounds) by Alfons Jindra, i.e. samples of hit Czech melodies from the swing and post-swing era.
