Reissue of the legendary debut album from 1969

They were still bold enough to call themselves The Rangers, and on their first LP they perfectly capitalized on the best of what they had created together since 1967. They started out on the genre-busting “Porta”, but their melodically extremely catchy and brilliantly presented vocals made their songs between folk, country and pop big hits for a much wider audience. The album’s core twelve are proof of that, and the 15 bonus songs complement that fact perfectly. Country expert – and presenter of early Rangers shows – Mirek Černý has selected singles as well as concert recordings.

With the original singer Jarka Hadrabová and guest Michal Tučný, but above all with the most important band line-up Antonín Hájek, Milan Dufek, Miroslav Řihošek, Radek Tomášek, Jan Vančura and Jiří Veisser. It’s a flood of positive music with stylistically precise lyrics, competent instrumental performances and wonderful multi-voices. The American folk backgrounds were given a decent domestic coat, the album’s exclusively taken repertoire was hinted at later in the bonuses by Plavci’s own essential work.

A wonderful, sonically treated and booklet-memorized listening experience.
