GrundRecords Release Information



The legendary Omega band has released its 17th studio album, which serves as a sort of summary of their work over the past decades.

Omega has always considered growth and development to be important, so “Testamentum” (Testament) can, without exaggeration, be regarded as the next step forward. This was preceded by the band’s classical music adaptations – “Szimfónia” (Symphony), “Rapszódia” (Rhapsody) and “Oratórium” (Oratorio) – whose influences blend with the progressive and space rock atmospheres characteristic of the band, spiced up with a musical world reminiscent of Hans Zimmer’s theatrical film scores or even the thunderous sound of Rammstein.

The result of this blend is “Testamentum”, which, according to lead singer János Kóbor, is “a kind of total rock, perhaps reminiscent of Dream Theater’s more popular material”. The 18-track album features not only brand-new compositions but also a few reinterpretations.

With the death of János “Mecky” Kóbor on 6 December 2021, the album has proven to be the band’s true legacy.
