Croatia Records Release Information
After four announced singles and almost two years of honest work, the new studio album of Divlje Jagode (Wild Strawberries) called “Jukebox” is finally out.
This time, “Jukebox” is a symbol of their beginnings, the passage of time, but also a message that they will never forget their old hits and band members. The concept of this album is significantly different from all the previous ones, and the idea for such a project came from loyal fans of Divlje Jagode. Accordingly, on the album they hosted former members Toni Janković, Mladen “Tifa” Vojičić, Sanin Karić, Žanil “Žak” Tataj, Nenad Borić and Edin “Šeha” Šehović, who together with Divlje Jagode are celebrating 40 years of the band’s existence. With this album, singer Toni Janković becomes a full member of the band again, and he is singing the title track “Jukebox”. Music and arrangement are by Divlje Jagode founder and guitarist Sead “Zele” Lipovača, and the lyrics were written by the hitmaker Nenad Ninčević.
The new studio album is a blend of songs that have raised rock generations, from those they often perform at concerts to those that have earned much more attention. “Ulica na lošem glasu” (A Street with a Bad Reputation), “Zbog tebe draga” (Because of You, Darling), “Sama si” (You’re alone), “Zauvijek tvoj” (Forever Yours), “Sarajevo, ti i ja” (Sarajevo, You and Me), “Nemam ništa protiv” (I Don’t Mind ) and “Zvijezda sjevera” (Star of the North) are arriving in completely new arrangements and are bringing a sound that says that Divlje Jagode are still as up to date as ever. In addition to the title track “Jukebox”, along with the aforementioned remakes, the album also includes the new songs “Virtualni svijet” (Virtual World), “Znamo da je kraj” (We Know It’s the End), “Dug je bio put” (It Has Been a Long Way) and an instrumental cover of Beethoven’s composition “Za Elizu” (Für Elise / For Elise). In the song “Dug je bio put” (It Has Been a Long Way) the band is joined by the world-famous rapper Stoka.
“Everything I dreamed about as a boy and what was supposed to be an unfulfilled fairy tale has become reality. So, miracles are possible! After 40 years and a half, the album “Jukebox” is not a big one, but it is certainly a small miracle,” said the founder, songwriter and guitarist of Divlje jagode, Sead “Zele” Lipovača.
Along with the new album, a video clip for the song “Jukebox” has been released, in which Divlje Jagode evoke old memories and remember all their 40 years. They dedicated it to Mustafa “Muc” Ismailovski, the keyboardist of the original line-up, but also to the audience that has been loyal to them all these years. The video was produced by RetrnoMetro & JohnDoeProduction and directed by Pukovnik Dabrov. The main character of the video, Anđela Popić, represents a member of the young generation who chooses the number 40 on the Jukebox, and is then joined by Toni Janković and tells the story of 40 years of one of the biggest rock bands in the Yugoslavian region.
