Olda Ríha celebrates: 48 greatest hits + retro bonus!

In Ríha’s jubilee year (he was born on 18 May 1948) the most complete selection of the greatest hits of the band Katapult is released. On three CDs with a running time of over 200 minutes you will find forty-eight of the band’s hits from 1976 to 2018, plus one bonus track. The extraordinary “Holubí dum” (Pigeon House) is a Shadows like instrumental curiosity, originally from the 1990s. This year’s new hit, previously only a stage hit, is a real surprise. Olda Ríha – to the music of Z. Holdys and in collaboration with the translator professor Hilský – turned Shakespeare’s “Sonet 66” into a powerful blues song.

Not the order of the year of composition, but the essence of the songs decided to divide them according to the key of “Hard”, “Slowly” and “Fast”. The archives of Supraphon and Warner Music provided an audio look at the entire career of Katapult (The Catapult). In the author’s logic, recordings separated often by several decades find themselves side by side and work sovereignly. The music always remains effectively guitar-simple, pretending nothing, communicating quickly with the listeners. This rock trio, in both classic and current lineups, is betting loyal fans on songs that have influenced several generations. The booklet, with little-known concert photos, also includes text by Jan Gogola Jr., humorously defining the band and its songs.

The 3CD has been given a unifying remastering and stylish cover art. It is a special invitation for fans and visitors to the big birthday tour, running continuously throughout 2018 and culminating with the Prague show on 15 November at the “Forum Karlín”.
