Warner Music Poland Release Information

In 1983, when Maanam released the English-language version of “Nocny Patrol”, “Night Patrol”, in the West, they became the first Polish band of their time to take such a significant artistic step. The black cover and the menacing title were clearly associated with the bleak social situation in Poland.

The music on “Night Patrol” was perfectly in tune with the wave of apocalyptic new wave rock from the West. Alongside Joy Division, The Cure and Siouxsie and The Banshees, Maanam captured the spirit of the early 1980s. The singer Kora’s tracks, interwoven with the sounds of shattering glass and police sirens and recorded by the British producer Neil Black, told us more about Poland than many press reports ever did. Today (in 2018), when the world is a little calmer, we can, if only for a moment, be transported back to those times (Kamil Sipowicz).
