The band Citron originally released the album “Radegast” in 1987, which also marked the debut of the phenomenal Ladislav Křížek as the band’s vocalist. This album is the band’s third studio effort and represents a significant milestone in the Czechoslovakian heavy metal scene of the 1980s.

The recording of this Ostrava legend was made in June 1987 at the Citron studio under the production of their band leader Radim Pařízek. The album is characterised by strong instrumentation, catchy riffs and distinctive vocals, which cemented Citron’s position as one of the most prominent rock bands of their time. The huge success of the album and the band's popularity in the following year, 1988, earned them first place in the “Zlatý slavík” (Golden Nightingale) poll in the Band of the Year category.

The main theme of the album is Slavic mythology, with songs such as “Radegast I.” and “Radegast II.” directly referring to the Slavic god of hospitality and harvest. Other songs such as “Hon na bluda” (Hunt for the Heretic), “Setkání s Radochem” (Meeting with Radoch) and “Valašský rok” (Wallachian Year) draw on folk motifs. The recording also includes the two romantic rock ballads “Už couvám” (I Am Backing away) and “Už zase mi scházíš” (I Miss You again). The hugely successful speed metal song “Zase dál” (Moving on again) stands out from the gloomy tone of the album. The opening composition features a motif from Leoš Janáček’s world-famous orchestral work “Sinfonietta”.
