The album “Vol. 1 & Vol. 2” (SACD Hybrid) by Czesław Niemen in a limited edition, in the series “Polskie Nagrania Catalogue Selections”. This is the first edition of this album in the SACD (Super Audio Compact Disc) format. The choice of this format is a nod to audiophiles.

“Niemen Vol. 1” and “Niemen Vol. 2” have been two albums, named “Marionetki” (Marionettes) by Niemen years later, after the title of the opening track of the second album, to lyrics by Norwid. The albums were recorded in 1972 by Grupa Niemen (Group Niemen), as Czesław Niemen called the group. This supergroup consisted of Czesław Niemen and Helmut Nadolski, musicians from the band SBB, i.e. Józef Skrzek, Anthimos Apostolis, Jerzy Piotrowski and trumpeter Andrzej Przybielski.

The group played together for a short time, from late 1971 to 1973. During this time, the musicians recorded three albums: “Niemen Vol. 1”, “Niemen Vol. 2” and “Strange Is this World”, which was released in the West.

For the lyrics Niemen once again reached back to Polish poetry by Cyprian Kamil Norwid, Jarosław Iwaszkiewicz, Maria Pawlikowska-Jasnorzewska, Bolesław Leśmian and Leszek A. Moczulski.
