Kalemegdan Disk Release Information

Three years after the “A teljesség” (The Completeness) LP & CD, Ossian, led by Endre Paksi, released a new album on 9 February 2024. The 12 songs on “Angyalok és emberek” (Angels and Men) are following the musical world of the recent releases, shaped into a separate identity, but in an improved and more mature form, both in terms of instrumentation and the imaginative creative work of the expanded creative core.

Endre Paksi: “It has been three years since the last Ossian album was released, but we have not been bored since then, in fact! During the time of the so-called Covid pandemic it was a wonderful medicine for us to work and play music all the time. Ricsi and I kept each other going and created something that I think it’s safe to say has become time and worthwhile material. Fortunately that dark period has since ended, and we started to gig again from the second half of 2022. And even then, at the end of that year, we entered what I call a “state of grace” or simply “inspiration”, because ideas started to come, to flow. It was also very inspiring for Ricsi that we interacted again. Plus, ever since we started gigging in 2022, Attika (keyboardist Attila Ádám) has been with us all the time. At first, we just arranged the old songs and where we felt we needed to add something extra to the live sound. And for the new songs, we approached it with love and asked him to participate, to which he happily agreed, and now we haveve worked together.”

Endre on the creative process: “At the moment, there are three of us who make up the songwriting core of the band, Ricsi, Attika and myself. Ricsi and I have known and worked for 25 years, we have shared a long and fruitful relationship. And now, bringing fresh blood into the band, Attika has joined us. I already knew and felt that he had an excellent sense of melody during “Az igazi szabadság” (True Freedom). There were already keyboards in all the songs, and when he played them and we talked about songwriting and instrumentation, it became clear that our worlds were compatible. Now we really let it unfold, which put the cinematic cubes in place... So it was a varied songwriting process, which resulted in a diverse body of work.”
