The album “Idée fixe” (SACD Hybrid, CD 1 only) by Czesław Niemen in a limited edition, in the series “Polskie Nagrania Catalogue Selections”. This is the first edition of this album in the SACD (Super Audio Compact Disc) format. The choice of this format is a nod to audiophiles.

“Idée fixe” (Fixed Idea) is a concept album that expands the experimental current in Czesław Niemen’s work in over 100 minutes, originally released on two LPs plus a single in 1978.

After his solo album “Katharsis”, Niemen returned to collaborating with other musicians, and although his work is still dominated by electronics, it is accompanied by a lively rhythm section and a notable guest is Zbigniew Namysłowski.

“Idée fixe” sparkles with a multiplicity of ideas, sounds and colours. It is a work that is not easy, but excellent.

For the first time on two LPs, Niemen uses the lyrics of only one poet, Cyprian Kamil Norwid. The single accompanying the album features excerpts from the music to Juliusz Słowacki’s play “Sen srebrny Salomei” (Salomea’s Silver Dream).
